The Kirsch Amazing Race

The Kirsch Amazing Race    After a very busy and productive tax season, the employees at Kirsch CPA Group were anxious to begin the annual after-tax season celebration. For months, the planning committee had been preparing their “top secret” event. The day had finally arrived for the “Kirsch Amazing Race.”

Maxine Harris, long-time employee of Kirsch CPA and a member of the winning Team #3, shared this story about her “Amazing Race” experience.

“Our CEO, John Kirsch, plans some sort of outing each year after the April 15th tax deadline for all employees and their families. I have been on these outings for 13 years and this year’s outing was the best one ever! Past outings were enjoyable and a different adventure each year, but this year the amount of total group involvement seemed to have surpassed any of the past years. We had four hours of excitement and activity before our evening dinner!

Amazing Race Planning Committee

Plans had been in the works for several months and they were kept secret. No one but the four committee members, Dave Ludwin, Melinda Hannah, Jill Frieden and Bev Hammer, knew what would take place. Several people tried to pry information out of them but it didn’t happen. Everyone met at the Fairfield office at 1:30 pm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, and were given directions to drive to a park which was about 5 miles away. Our instructions were, once we got to the park we “could car pool” with someone else if we chose to since we would be traveling to several different locations in the Fairfield/Hamilton area during the afternoon. This “car pool” idea kept us in suspense until the last minute, but before we left the office we found out that we would be participating in “The Kirsch Amazing Race.”

Limousines await the teams

As we drove into the park parking lot, we saw three stretch limos waiting for us. So much for the “car pool” idea, but no one was complaining! Our large group was divided into three smaller groups, the Jade Joggers, the Scarlet Sprinters and the Turquoise Trotters. Each group was given an envelope with instructions and clues as to what to do. Each limo had to proceed to six different places and participate in events which earned points toward your team winning the race, as well as time involved was considered. While one limo was at one location the other limos were at different locations and they rotated locations so everyone would participate in each planned event by the end of the games. A lot of organizing and planning went into this!
